How to Build a Milk Jug Igloo
To assemble your igloo, you will need a large appliance box as the base, that you will be gluing your base layer to. Tape the seams together if needed. The foundation is very important. Find the center of your foundation and mark it with something like a nail or thumbtack. Attach a string to it and mark the outer edge of your igloo as a guide to start gluing jugs together. When starting to glue jugs together, you will want to glue them 2 at a time, handles facing each other. When you start laying them out as the foundation, you can glue the groups of two together, with a little space in them, as they will have to eventually make a round foundation. You’ll figure it out. Use high heat glue sticks in your glue gun. Each glue stick will glue about 10 jugs together, give or take a couple.
In the video, the base layer has 42 jugs. Each additional layer, you’ll need 1/2 to 1 less jug, until you reach the top. Don’t forget to leave an opening, about 4-6 jugs wide. After about 5 layers, you can fill that space with jugs all the way around your igloo. Make sure on your 1st layer that you close the opening up with, you add a couple 1/2 gallon support jugs below to strengthen that layer.
